While glaciers are still receding, there are still an untold number of these Ice Age relics to explore by air. Shimmering pools of cobalt water lay undisturbed on some of these enormous bodies of ice, always calling out for a closer view. Other glacial wonders only visible by air include seracs, moulins, crevasses, and incredible ice-falls.

Imagine stepping back in time during the ice age that reached the maximum extent of glaciation 22,000 years ago. This is what you feel when you step off your modern turbine A-STAR helicopter onto one of Alaska’s ancient glacier icefields.
